Edinburgh Trams will honor Remembrance Sunday (9 November) and Armistice Day (11 November) to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in World War I, World War II, and recent conflicts.
To recognize the sacrifices of armed forces members, Edinburgh Trams will offer free travel to veterans and serving personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force on both days. Eligibility requires showing military ID or wearing a uniform.
Before these days of remembrance, Poppy Scotland representatives will be at the Haymarket tram stop selling poppies. Poppies will also be displayed in tram windows as a mark of respect.
Wherever it is safe, tram services will halt at 11 a.m. on both days to observe a two-minute silence in remembrance.
“Each year I am proud to show our support at Edinburgh Trams on both Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. As a former veteran myself, and a number of our colleagues being former service men and women, we are passionate about paying tribute to all of those who have paid the ultimate price throughout the years while serving our country.”
Edinburgh Trams’ annual gesture reflects deep respect for military service and remembrance across generations.
