Preparations are progressing smoothly for the United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V mission carrying ViaSat-3 Flight 2 (F2), a high-capacity broadband satellite developed by Viasat. The launch is scheduled for Wednesday, November 5, at 10:24 p.m. from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida.
According to current forecasts, weather conditions are highly favorable, with a 95 percent chance of acceptable conditions at liftoff.
The Atlas V 551 rocket, equipped with five solid rocket boosters and a standard-length payload fairing, will deploy the ViaSat-3 F2 satellite into a geosynchronous transfer orbit. This mission involves one of the heaviest single-satellite payloads ever managed by ULA.
“The Launch Readiness Review (LRR) is GO for Wednesday’s liftoff of the United Launch Alliance commercial Atlas V rocket with one of the most sophisticated and powerful commercial communications satellites — the ViaSat-3 Flight 2 ultra-high-capacity broadband spacecraft.”
The LRR was directed by ULA Launch Director James Whelan and finalized at the Advanced Spaceflight Operations Center (ASOC). This confirms full readiness for launch and marks the final major milestone before countdown operations commence.
The ViaSat-3 F2 mission aims to boost global internet connectivity through its advanced broadband capabilities, reinforcing ULA’s reputation for reliability and precision in commercial satellite deployments.
Author’s summary: ULA has confirmed full readiness for the Atlas V launch of the ViaSat-3 Flight 2 satellite, set for November 5, with excellent weather prospects and all systems cleared for flight.
