The final season of the Duffer brothers’ hit Netflix series, ‘Stranger Things’, is set to premiere in 2025. The iconic show’s fifth installment will be released in three parts, rounding off the story that began nearly a decade ago.
Production on the final season began in January 2024 and officially concluded in December of the same year, reaching its halfway mark by July. Work on Season 5 started shortly after Part 2 of Season 4 dropped in July 2022, when the writers' room opened in August 2022.
The pandemic that delayed Season 4’s release, along with subsequent Hollywood strikes, caused significant postponements in the show’s schedule, pushing Season 5 further than initially planned.
Netflix announced during its TUDUM event on May 31 that the fifth and final season will debut in three parts toward the end of 2025:
Season 5 will consist of eight episodes, closing out the Hawkins saga with a full narrative arc. Netflix announced the episode titles in early November.
Many returning cast members, including Noah Schnapp and Finn Wolfhard, have shared heartfelt posts on social media reflecting on the production journey and what the series has meant to them personally and professionally.
"‘Stranger Things 5’ brought me out of retirement," said ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ director Frank Darabont, commenting on the legacy and impact of the show's final season.
‘Stranger Things’ Season 5, arriving in 2025, will deliver an emotional and cinematic conclusion to the beloved Netflix series, unfolding across three epic parts.
