Dakota Fanning opens up about her new thriller All Her Fault, reflecting on how it differs from her previous hit The Perfect Couple, and what she’s learned from working with Australian talent Nicole Kidman and Sarah Snook.
Fanning notes that her latest project takes a darker turn compared to her earlier work. While The Perfect Couple had moments of humor, All Her Fault dives deeper into mystery and tension.
“There’s no dance,” she laughs, referencing the popular flash mob scene from the 2024 Netflix series featuring Nicole Kidman.
“I think that this [All Her Fault] leans more into the thriller aspect. But one thing we’ve learned is that audiences love trying to solve a mystery together — it really brings people in.”
Fanning stars opposite Sarah Snook, whose performance in Succession she long admired. She describes the Emmy-winning actress with genuine warmth and respect.
“Sarah, in real life, is just amazing,” Fanning says. “She’s incredibly talented and down to earth.”
Although both had demanding schedules during filming, Fanning says she understands Snook’s need to spend time with loved ones.
“She was working constantly, so we didn’t hang out much off set. I think it’s really important for her to recharge and be with her family.”
All Her Fault is an eight-part adaptation of Andrea Mara’s novel. Snook plays Marissa Irvine, a distraught mother whose child vanishes during a seemingly harmless playdate. The tension and emotional depth anchor the drama as Fanning helps bring the mystery to life.
