The Buffalo Sabres fell 3-0 to the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night at KeyBank Center, despite limiting their opponent to just 17 shots on goal. Buffalo went 0-for-3 on the power play and saw its seven-game point streak end.
The Blues struck first late in the opening period when Mathieu Joseph scored a shorthanded breakaway goal to make it 1-0. Less than three minutes into the second frame, Nick Bjugstad extended the lead to 2-0 with help from Justin Faulk and Joseph. In the closing minutes of the third period, Faulk sealed the win with a power-play tally.
“We had 23 scoring chances but couldn’t solve Joel Hofer, who finished with 27 saves,” reported Natural Stat Trick.
The Sabres’ strong defensive effort wasn’t enough as the Blues capitalized on key opportunities and ended Buffalo’s point streak with a decisive 3-0 win.
