After twenty years as one of Melbourne’s most beloved weather presenters, Livinia Nixon has announced that she will step down from her 9News Melbourne role. Her final broadcast is scheduled for Tuesday, 18 November.
Livinia, who joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting the weather in 2004, shared that her decision was guided by a wish to spend more time with her family as her sons move through high school. Despite this transition, she will continue appearing on Nine’s popular travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me. When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
“I’m thrilled to be staying with Nine and will be continuing my roles on Getaway and Postcards.”
As she transitions away from the weather desk, Livinia remains a cherished part of the Nine family. Her warmth, professionalism, and lasting connection with viewers have made her a defining presence in Melbourne television.
