9News Melbourne will say goodbye to one of its most popular faces this November, as weather presenter Livinia Nixon plans to step down on November 18. Nixon, aged 50, joined the network in 1997 and has been the weather presenter since 2004.
Announcing her decision on Friday, Nixon explained her choice to focus on family as her sons begin their senior years in school.
"After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I've decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them. It's been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers' homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family."
Nixon expressed gratitude for her role and the impact it has had on her life and career.
"Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me."
She shared a heartfelt moment with her children regarding the decision:
"When I discussed it with our boys, they said, 'We're pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.'"
Although stepping back from the weeknight weather presenting role, Livinia Nixon will remain with the Nine Network in other capacities.
