After two decades as Melbourne’s most beloved weather presenter, Livinia Nixon has announced she will step down from her position at 9News Melbourne. Her final weather bulletin will air on Tuesday, 18 November.
Nixon, who joined the Nine Network in 1997 and began presenting weather for 9News Melbourne in 2004, explained that her decision was motivated by family priorities as her sons reach their senior school years.
“After 20 years presenting weather on 9News, I’ve decided to step back from this role. My sons will both be in high school and I want to be there to support them.”
She expressed gratitude for her long connection with viewers, emphasizing how much the role has meant to her personally and professionally.
“It’s been a privilege to be welcomed into viewers’ homes for so long, but this is the right time for my family.”
Though stepping down from the nightly news, Nixon will remain a key part of the Nine Network, continuing her work on the travel programs Getaway and Postcards.
“Presenting the weather has shaped my life and career. I owe this role everything but this is the right decision for me,”
“When I discussed it with our boys, they said ‘we’re pretty excited to spend more time with you, Mum.’”
After twenty years delivering Melbourne’s forecasts, Livinia Nixon leaves 9News weather to focus on family while continuing her travel show roles with Nine.
