Ethan Hawke, who has had a four-decade-long career in Hollywood, is currently enjoying a successful second phase with starring roles in FX’s The Lowdown—which recently finished its first season—and the popular Black Phone film franchise.
Although many know him from his breakthrough role in 1989’s Dead Poets Society, Hawke’s actual film debut occurred four years earlier in a lesser-known sci-fi movie titled Explorers, often seen as a copycat of E.T..
The director said the studio "ruined" the sci-fi film.
