Predators’ Ryan O’Reilly: ‘I can’t make a six-foot pass to save my life’

Predators’ Ryan O’Reilly Expresses Frustration After Loss

Ryan O’Reilly has recorded six goals and 10 points in 16 games with the Nashville Predators during the 2025-26 season. After the Predators’ 3-1 defeat to the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night, the 17-year NHL veteran spoke candidly with reporters about the team's struggles.

O’Reilly, who played 18:54 minutes and scored a goal in the game, criticized his own performance and the team’s recent form, as the Predators have lost 10 of their last 13 games.

“I can’t make a 6-foot pass to save my life… I’ve had one good year in my career.”

He added, “We had a chance to take full control of the game and we didn’t, we let them back in and they pushed back. For myself, (a) number-one center, I turned the puck over everywhere. I can’t make a six-foot pass to save my life. We’re not going to have much success if I’m playing pathetic like that.”

When asked about finding answers to the team’s issues, O’Reilly said, “I don’t know the answer. I’ve had one good year in my career … I don’t have any answers, that’s for sure.”

Regarding the team’s offensive play, he remarked, “It’s nice having the puck in the offensive zone, but when you don’t win games, it’s disappointing. I just want to win games, it’s as simple as that.” The 34-year-old forward appeared visibly upset but remained outspoken about the situation.

Author’s summary: Ryan O’Reilly openly critiques his own play and the Predators' recent struggles, emphasizing his drive to improve despite ongoing challenges.
