Marvel star Jeremy Renner accused of threatening to call ICE on Chinese film partner

Chinese filmmaker Yi Zhou has accused actor Jeremy Renner of threatening to contact U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and of sending her explicit, unsolicited images. The allegations surfaced through a series of posts shared by Zhou on Instagram.

Allegations and relationship timeline

Zhou, 34, who collaborated with Renner, 54, on a documentary and an animated film, claimed the actor began contacting her in June 2025 via direct messages and WhatsApp. According to Zhou, he sent her a series of unrequested and explicit photos. Despite the initial messages, the two later entered a romantic relationship and worked on two projects together.

Incident at Reno residence

During discussions about their joint documentary titled Chronicles Of Disney, Zhou alleges that Renner became volatile while they were at his home in Reno, Nevada. She described the situation as fearful and chaotic.

“I was discussing about the doc logistics, then he drank a bottle of wine alone and got angry and angry yelling for two hours,” Zhou told the Daily Mail. “I had to location share to my team, my parents and Disney colleagues in case something happens to me they know where I am.”

“I had to lock myself in a room to be safe praying he would not come into the room at night as he was really angry. I did not say a word, I was so scared for my life.”

The Daily Mail also released what it claimed were messages Zhou exchanged with her Disney colleagues during the incident. She reportedly told one colleague that she believed she would be safe staying at Renner’s residence.
