The more surprising semi-final is the match between Jessica Pegula and Elena Rybakina, who will face each other for the first time inside the King Saud University Indoor Arena. The winner will claim the first ticket to Saturday’s final.
Pegula, who reached the final previously in Cancun 2023, advanced despite a three-set loss to world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. She secured her semi-final berth with victories over Coco Gauff, the defending champion she had recently lost to in Wuhan, and Jasmine Paolini.
