Anapa’s beach soccer club Monte emerged as the surprise contender of the Russian Cup, achieving unexpected wins and challenging the top teams of the Super League. In their first national season, the team, named after the legendary Monte Melkonian, made a significant impact and attracted widespread attention in the beach soccer community.
Founded just a year ago, Monte quickly rose to confront the giants of the Russian Super League and delivered remarkable results. September in Anapa marked the end of the beach soccer season with the city hosting the Russian Cup, featuring the country's strongest teams and some of the world’s best players.
Monte started the tournament with strong performances, defeating Super League teams CSKA and Krasnodar-YuMR in stunning upsets. In their final match of the first group stage, Monte confidently beat Tyumen's KST-72, finishing the group with a perfect record and securing first place for the next round.
During the second group stage, Monte faced tougher rivals, including Krylya Sovetov (Samara), Kristall (St. Petersburg)—one of the world’s elite beach soccer clubs—and local club Olimp. Despite the tougher competition, the Anapa team displayed resilience and fought fiercely in every match.
