On November 13, the Saeima (Parliament) will decide whether to permit criminal prosecution against Riga District Court judge Inese Siliņeviča, reports LETA news agency.
The issue was reviewed during a closed session of the Saeima’s Legal Affairs Committee. Committee chairman Andrejs Judins (New Unity) declined to share details, citing a signed confidentiality agreement.
Latvian Television's program Panorāma indicates that the judge may be involved in a case regarding abuse of office and fictitious employment within the court’s archive staff.
Judge Siliņeviča oversaw several high-profile cases, including one involving Latvenergo and another concerning bribery at the Riga Central Market.
The committee’s chairman, Andrejs Judins, said he had signed a confidentiality agreement prohibiting disclosure of the details.
