Several famous individuals achieved great success despite not completing high school. Jeremy Allen White, star of The Bear, recently shared a touching moment involving an old teacher at the NYC premiere of his movie Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.
On the October 23 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, White revealed that he wasn’t a good student because he didn’t attend school consistently and never graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City. After the film screening, his teacher surprised him with a gift:
“And I was like, ‘Ah, you don’t have to do this, this is crazy, what are you giving me a gift for?’ And I open it up, and it is my high school diploma. So… at 34 years old, I graduated high school!”
Although Kidman holds two Oscars, she expressed regret over leaving school early. During an interview on 60 Minutes, the 51-year-old shared:
“I’m a high school dropout, which I’m not proud to say. I had some teachers that I still think of fondly and were amazing to me.”
By age 15, she was focused on becoming an actress and moved to Los Angeles to pursue her career.
These stories show that not having a traditional high school diploma did not prevent these stars from reaching remarkable achievements in their careers.
