Mike Smith, the actor known for his role as Bubbles on the Canadian mockumentary series Trailer Park Boys, has been charged with sexual assault. The charge relates to an alleged incident from 2017.
Smith, 53, was charged on October 2 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The alleged assault reportedly occurred in December 2017 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. According to court documents obtained by CBC News, Smith has been ordered not to contact the victim. The victim’s name remains protected under a publication ban.
Trailer Park Boys Inc., the company responsible for the show’s production, merchandise, and streaming service, confirmed that Smith has temporarily stepped away from his role as managing director.
"We are aware of the allegation concerning Mike Smith dating back to 2017 and take such matters seriously. We recognize how difficult an allegation of this nature is for all involved."
