A Sarnia councillor is urging Lambton County council to take action to reduce the impact of an overflow shelter on Exmouth Street on the surrounding neighbourhood.
“We have an entire community that is being torn apart,” “There is drug use and there is violence.”
Coun. Chrissy McRoberts expressed concerns about the shelter, which has been the subject of complaints from neighbours regarding trespassing, drug use, and property damage since its opening in March 2023.
Residents have circulated a petition calling for the shelter to be closed, prompting McRoberts to ask,
“What more can we do to protect the community,”during a committee meeting.
