Annual Old Town Gazebo 'Day of the Dead' Event Cancelled
The Día de Muertos Festival of Altars, organized by the Somos Medicina Collective since 2019, has been cancelled due to safety concerns.
"We feel that we cannot bring our people together safely at this time," said organizers
The event, a free and family-friendly celebration, typically features food, music, dance, face painting, and ofrendas honoring ancestors and loved ones, following Latin American traditions.
The cancellation comes amidst concerns over the targeting of the community, with organizers deciding not to proceed with the 2025 edition, previously scheduled for November 2.
