Opposition to Receive Office and Money for Staff in New Budget
The professionalization of local politics will cost the public more next year, as the government has agreed to create a budget item for the official opposition.
According to Premier André Ebanks, the government will fund two staff members and provide office space for the opposition leader.
The decision follows discussions with Commonwealth parliamentary colleagues, who noted Cayman's lack of support for opposition leadership falls short of international standards.
