Signatures Fall Short for State House Seat in District 42 in Grand Forks

A special election for the District 42 North Dakota House of Representatives seat in Grand Forks will not be held.

The North Dakota Special Secretary of State's Office announced that a petition submitted by members of the District 42 Republican Party lacks enough valid signatures to be approved.

The seat was vacated by former Rep. Emily O’Brien, who left in August to take a state job, and is currently held by Dustin McNally, appointed in September.

No special election will be held due to insufficient valid signatures.
