Investigation into Dead Cat Found in Central Park Woods

Schenectady Police are investigating an incident involving a dead cat found in a carrier in the woods of Central Park.

A woman, Ann Scully, discovered the cat carrier while walking on a hiking trail on Sunday afternoon. She found a dead cat inside and described the experience as "horribly disturbing."

It was horribly disturbing. I cried, a lot.

The police reported that the cat carrier's door was left open and there were no obvious signs of injury on the cat. The animal control unit is handling the investigation, and the cat's remains have been turned over to the Mohawk Humane Society.

The police are still determining whether the incident is criminal in nature. However, Ann Scully believes that someone intentionally left the cat to die, stating that it was not a stray cat.
