EU poultry production held steady in early 2025, dipping just 0.3% between January and March compared to the same period last year.
Rising production was led by Greece (+17%), Slovakia (+8%), Spain (+7%), Croatia (+7%), Bulgaria (+6%), Portugal (+6%) and Slovenia (+5%).
However, output fell in Poland, Italy and Hungary due to highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) outbreaks.
Poultry prices have risen sharply, with mid-June broiler prices averaging €306 per 100 kg — up 13% year-on-year — reflecting strong demand and tight market supply.
The European Commission forecasts EU poultry production to grow by 1.8% in 2025, supported by robust consumer demand, easing feed costs and higher output prices.
