Hong Kong Tennis Open: Last China Players Exit
Zhang Shuai and Wang Yafan lost in straight sets, while top seed Belinda Bencic continued her climb into the world top 10.
China's last two representatives were sent out of the tournament on Wednesday. No 1 seed Belinda Bencic marched on after beating Wang Yafan.
The first match saw Russia's Anna Kalinskaya defeat Zhang Shuai with a 6-1, 6-1 victory. Then, Bencic took down Wang Yafan in one hour and 16 minutes, 6-2, 6-2.
I felt good on the court. I tried to play aggressively, tried to play my game, and it worked out well.
Bencic came to Hong Kong after winning the Japan Open, marking her sixth victory in a row.
