Pentagon Preparing for Protests
The Pentagon has ordered National Guard units to complete civil unrest training, creating a 23,500-member "reaction force" to respond to domestic protests.
According to internal documents, this move follows President Donald Trump's vow to send National Guard troops to the US. The reaction force is set to be operational by April 1.
A separate 200-member federal "quick reaction force" will be trained and ready by January, able to respond within 24 hours, with a first wave deployable in just eight hours.
