Jonathan Toews, the former Chicago captain, had an assist in his first game against his former team, helping the Winnipeg Jets defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 6-3.
Toews played 16 NHL seasons with Chicago, winning the Stanley Cup three times (2010, 2013, 2015) as captain of the Blackhawks. He signed a one-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets in July, after being out of the NHL since the end of the 2022-23 season.
“That was a real good game,” said Winnipeg coach Scott Arniel. “I don't know if there ever is a perfect 60, but that was one of our best of the year. I liked a lot of what we did, whether that was our coverage, whether that was our breakouts. I thought we were really good on our breakouts.”
The Jets' victory was also fueled by Vilardi's 2 goals and 1 assist. Author's summary: Toews assists Jets in win against Blackhawks.
