Visual Studio October Update
The October 2025 update for Visual Studio 2022 (v17.14) has been released, making the Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5 coding models available in the GitHub Copilot chat window.
Microsoft has added several new features to GitHub Copilot, including Copilot memories, which allows the tool to remember project preferences, support for instruction files, and built-in planning for multi-step tasks.
With Claude Sonnet 4.5 and Claude Haiku 4.5 available in the GitHub Copilot chat window, the latest innovations for driving agentic workflows are right at the developer’s fingertips, Microsoft said.
The update was announced on October 30 and can be downloaded from visualstudio.microsoft.com.
