City unveils plan for new stage, remodel of Coleman Hawkins Park next spring

New Stage and Remodel of Coleman Hawkins Park

The city has unveiled a plan for a new stage and remodel of Coleman Hawkins Park, with construction set to begin next spring.

The $900,000 project, funded by parks tax, aims to maximize viewing space and enhance sound capabilities for concerts and events.

"That project is now out for bid. In late November or early December, we should be ready to go to Council for their approval and then we'll be able to get that project going by spring,"

said St. Joseph Parks Director Jeff Atkins, hoping for a late July or August completion date.

The remodel is a result of feedback from Downtown groups, performers, and community members.
