A 65-year-old man from Gainesville, Hayward Eugene Fuller, has been charged with false imprisonment and possession of methamphetamine after a domestic incident near the Tom Arrendale Interchange in Habersham County.
According to the Habersham County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to Toccoa Highway on Monday at around 5 p.m. due to a reported carjacking. However, investigators found that the report was a result of confusion from an uninvolved 9-1-1 caller.
A female victim in Fuller's vehicle was being held against her will, and an altercation occurred between the two. When they stopped at a business, Fuller got out, and the victim fled in the vehicle. Fuller had an old scab on his arm that began to bleed during the altercation, leading to a false report of a stabbing.
The Habersham County Sheriff's Office determined that the incident was a domestic dispute, and Fuller was subsequently charged.
No statement from the authorities or the suspect has been released.
