Remembrance Day ceremonies are scheduled for November 11 throughout the North Okanagan region.
The indoor ceremony in Vernon will take place once again at Kal Tire Place South. This event is a partnership between the City of Vernon and the Royal Canadian Legion.
Flanders Field will be read, followed by a prayer and other formalities, concluding with the laying of wreaths.
The event is free, and poppies will be available by donation.
An outdoor ceremony will also be held at the Vernon Cenotaph at 10:30 a.m. This ceremony is organized by the Vernon Elks Lodge #45 and the Army, Navy and Airforce Veterans #5.
Afterwards, food and refreshments will be offered at both venues.
Summary: Remembrance Day in North Okanagan features both indoor and outdoor ceremonies honoring veterans with formal tributes, parades, and moments of silence, open to the public.
