OpenMind and RoboStore Launch Academic Training Program for Humanoid Robots

OpenMind, the developer of an open artificial intelligence operating system for robotics, together with RoboStore LLC, a distributor of advanced robotic platforms, announced the start of a new educational program focused on humanoid robots.

Just a few years ago, building and deploying humanoid robots cost over $100,000, making them primarily tools for demonstrations and research rather than practical applications. Today, with costs dropping—analysts estimate prices may soon fall below $10,000—these machines are becoming more accessible and commercially viable.

Technological Progress in Robotics

The rise of vision-language and robotics foundation models has greatly accelerated machine intelligence, enabling robots to better understand their surroundings and take meaningful actions.

These technologies have driven major gains in robotic autonomy and intelligence throughout the past year.

OpenMind’s Contribution

Earlier this year, OpenMind introduced OM1, an open-source operating system designed for machine intelligence. This universal platform allows different types of robots to reason, perceive, and operate effectively in real-world environments.

“As a parent, I think it’s important for these machines to be easy for humans to understand, guardrail, and improve,” said OpenMind Chief Executive Jan Liphardt in an interview with SiliconANGLE.

Author’s Summary

The collaboration between OpenMind and RoboStore marks a step toward integrating accessible education and advanced intelligence into humanoid robotics, accelerating the field’s commercial maturity.
