Tonight, a system will bring light rain moving from west to east by morning. Scattered lake effect rain showers will persist through midday, then transition to light lake effect snow showers in the northwest belts. Minor snow accumulations of a quarter to half an inch are possible.
A deep jet stream trough will bring cold Canadian air to the Upper Midwest this weekend, accompanied by an area of low pressure. This will cause the first accumulating snow of the season on Sunday, mainly light lake effect snow across the north and northwest wind belts.
There’s a 20-50% probability of accumulating snow in the north central Upper Peninsula.
