The Miami Heat faced a significant challenge after Bam Adebayo left during the first quarter of their Wednesday night loss to the Denver Nuggets. An MRI conducted Thursday revealed that Adebayo has a sprained left big toe.
Adebayo is ruled out for Friday night’s game against the Charlotte Hornets at Kaseya Center and will be listed as day-to-day moving forward. The Heat’s following game is Saturday night at the same venue, against the Portland Trail Blazers.
To address Adebayo’s absence, the Heat recalled former Florida Atlantic University center Vlad Goldin from the G League on Thursday.
The roster issue at center was apparent even before Adebayo’s exit. With Adebayo injured after just 8:12 of play in the 122-112 loss, the team was left with minimal options.
Norman Powell, veteran guard, stated, “We went into the season with only Adebayo and second-year Kel’el Ware considered viable options at center.”
Now the Heat must see if they can remain competitive without their key center.
Bam Adebayo’s toe sprain leaves Miami Heat’s center position uncertain, forcing roster changes as the team prepares to face upcoming games without him.
