With the release of War of Settra’s Fury, Games Workshop introduced a fresh army to Warhammer: The Old World — the Renegade Crowns. This faction from the Border Princes represents exiles, outcasts, outlaws, and mercenaries active in the region.
The Renegade Crowns bring a unique flavor to the game, offering a rich and diverse army list. They immediately caught my attention due to their distinctive theme and playstyle.
I’ve examined the army and its capabilities, but rather than just study it, I’ve been creating and testing multiple army lists. Unlike more established armies such as Cathay, the Renegade Crowns offer more flexibility but lack an existing strategic framework.
“It’s interesting to go into a brand new army, one with a lot more choices than Cathay, and build things with no real framework.”
My goal has been to discover what defines this army and what roles it can fulfill on the battlefield.
Today, I want to share several ideas for Renegade Crown lists and discuss how they could perform in play. Crafting these lists helps to shed light on the army’s strengths and tactics.
“Let’s take a look at a couple of Renegade Crown list ideas and how they might work.”
Author’s summary: Exploring the versatile and thematic Renegade Crowns army reveals fresh strategic possibilities within Warhammer: The Old World’s evolving meta.
