Free Transit for Veterans on Remembrance Day
TransLink will honour veterans and active military personnel this Remembrance Day by offering free transit on Tuesday, November 11.
Who Is Eligible for Free Transit?
- Veterans
- Active members of the Canadian Armed Forces
- Police and fire personnel
- Canadian Coast Guard members
- Officers from the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
- BC Ambulance Service personnel
Eligible individuals can show their badge, military ID, Veteran’s Service Card, or wear their uniform to access free transit.
Transit Access Details
- Veterans and eligible riders do not need to tap their Compass Card for buses and HandyDART trips.
- The accessible fare gate at SkyTrain and SeaBus stations will remain open from 8 a.m. on November 11.
- Holiday fares will apply for other customers on this day.

TransLink also acknowledges National Indigenous Veterans Day on Saturday, November 8, honoring Indigenous veterans' sacrifices and contributions to global peace and security.
The Royal Canadian Legion will be distributing poppies by donation at various transit hubs in Metro Vancouver.
Customers are encouraged to use transit to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies throughout the region.
