SALT LAKE CITY — Elder Gérald Caussé has been called to serve in the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The announcement was made on Thursday, and he was ordained by President Dallin H. Oaks along with the First Presidency and the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.
Before this calling, Gérald Caussé served as the Presiding Bishop of the Church. He has been a prominent figure in international church service for many years, speaking frequently to youth and church members around the world. One such event took place in Versailles, France, on July 21, 2024.
“I’ve always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. He’s always been at the center of my life. I know He is our Savior and Redeemer. It is a wonderful privilege to be a witness of Christ — the greatest responsibility we can have in this life.”
According to the Church, the Apostles are regarded as “special witnesses of the name of Christ throughout the world.” In addition to their spiritual mission, they supervise key administrative and developmental aspects of the global Church.
Elder Caussé, aged 62, was born in Bordeaux, France. His lifelong commitment to faith and service has been central to his ministry.
Gérald Caussé’s appointment as an Apostle reflects his lasting devotion to faith and leadership, extending the Church’s global mission through his life of testimony and service.
