Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, a 24-year-old Algerian sex offender, has been arrested and returned to HMP Wandsworth after nearly a week on the run. Police conducted a two-day manhunt following his accidental release from the prison on October 29.
Kaddour-Cherif was mistakenly released when prison officials confused his custodial sentence for possessing a knife with a suspended sentence on their computer system. He is a registered sex offender, previously convicted of indecent exposure on November 24, for which he received a community order and was placed on the sex offenders' registry for five years.
On the morning of his arrest at 11:30 am in Finsbury Park, north London, a member of the public spotted Kaddour-Cherif. The Metropolitan Police quickly responded and apprehended him in Blackhorse Lane,
