India secured a narrow two-run victory over arch-rival Pakistan in a rain-affected contest at the Tin Kwong Road Recreation Ground on Friday, continuing the excitement of the ongoing Hong Kong Sixes cricket tournament.
Batting first, India posted 86 for four in six overs. Robin Uthappa top-scored with 28 runs from just 11 balls, while Dinesh Karthik added 17 from six deliveries and Bharat Chipli contributed 24 off 13, providing strong support to Uthappa’s explosive start.
Pakistan’s reply began aggressively as opener Khawaja Nafay smashed 18 runs in the first over. Stuart Binny dismissed Maaz Sadaqat (7 off 3) in the next over to provide India an early breakthrough. With Nafay (18 off 9) and Abdul Samad (16 off 6) at the crease, Pakistan reached 41 for one after three overs and seemed on course for victory.
“As rain intensified, the officials called off play, and India was declared the winner by two runs.”
