washing machine for humans soaks them in bubble baths for hands-free showering

Human Washing Machine at Expo 2025 Osaka

At Expo 2025 Osaka, Science Corporation introduced a human washing machine that cleans the user automatically by spraying water and blasting air around the body. This bathing capsule is designed for a hands-free shower experience while sitting inside.

Cleaning Technology

The device uses micro- and ultrafine bubbles to wash the entire body. Microbubbles, about 0.003 millimeters wide, cover the lower body, while ultrafine bubbles approximately 0.0001 millimeters in size clean the upper body and head. These bubbles help remove dirt, oils, and odor-causing substances from the skin and pores.

Health Monitoring Features

Sensors embedded in the washing machine measure the user’s physical condition during the bath. A sensor on the backrest tracks heart rate and electrocardiogram, displaying the data on a screen in front of the user.

The official name of the project is Future Human Washing Machine.

Relaxation and Aftercare

The system responds visually: when the sensor detects tiredness, it shows calming or positive images to help the user relax. After washing, the water drains automatically, and the drying cycle blows air around the body while the user remains seated.

Process Duration

The full washing and drying cycle takes about 15 minutes, potentially shorter than a typical human shower.
