Alison Steadman is recovering well following a severe fall earlier this year. The actress, known for her role as Pam Shipman in Gavin & Stacey, tripped on uneven concrete at a restaurant while she was in Dubai. The fall left her struggling to walk and temporarily reliant on a wheelchair.
In a recent update, Alison described the incident as "terrible" and "shocking," adding that she still faces another operation to remove metal screws from her foot.
"That fall was just terrible, shocking – it was an awful time. I’ve got to have another operation on my foot soon, to take the metal screws out of it."
She also shared some positive news with the Mirror:
"But I’ve finally just stopped using a stick, which is great – I am walking again, hurrah!"
The 79-year-old admitted how lucky she felt that the situation didn't become worse. Speaking to the Daily Star, Alison said:
"I knew when I fell that it was serious. If I’d banged my head the way I banged my foot, I promise you, I would not be here. Every time I get fed up, I say that to myself. The important thing is that I’m alive."
Steadman recently reprised her role as Sue Jessop in the BBC sitcom Here We Go, which aired its third series over the summer and saw a 70% increase in iPlayer ratings compared to the previous season.
Author’s summary: Alison Steadman is steadily recovering after a serious fall, showing resilience as she returns to walking and continues her acting career.
