Federal Appeals Court Temporarily Bars Portland Troop Deployment
The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has decided to take more time to consider whether to rehear arguments regarding the deployment of Oregon National Guard troops to Portland.
A recent order issued by the court has put a hold on the deployment, allowing a larger panel of judges to review the matter. This decision comes after a panel of three judges initially ruled in favor of deploying the troops to protect a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility, which has been the site of protests.
The order is part of a series of legal actions taken in response to President Donald Trump's plan to deploy hundreds of National Guard troops to the facility.
