OpenAI's Ambitious Goals
According to Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, the company aims to have a "legitimate AI researcher" by 2028.
To achieve this goal, OpenAI is focusing on two key strategies: algorithmic innovation and scaling up "test time compute".
OpenAI is tracking toward achieving an intern-level research assistant by September 2026 and a fully automated “legitimate AI researcher” by 2028.
This announcement comes as OpenAI transitions to a public benefit corporation structure, allowing for new opportunities in capital raising.
Jakub Pachocki, OpenAI's chief scientist, joined Altman in a livestream to discuss the company's goals.
