Jefferson Mayor Election Results
Dawn Maddox has won the Jefferson mayoral election by a single vote, defeating incumbent Mayor Jon Howell.
Maddox received 1,278 votes, while Howell received 1,277, according to the final numbers posted by the Georgia Secretary of State's Office.
Maddox, a former councilwoman, had resigned her council post earlier in the year amidst controversy in the Jefferson Police Department to challenge for the mayoral seat.
No comment from the candidates was available at the time of reporting.
